My name is Deqa Nur and my preferred pronouns are she/her. I am a mature student and mother of three children, I’m a 4th year post-degree student pursuing a major in International Development and a minor in African Studies. I advocate for social justice, a strong proponent for social development, economic inclusion and promote local perspective and decision making, and advocate for women leadership with strong equity, inclusive and diverse tools or policies. As a social developer, my passion is Community Development, focusing on human development which is at the core for all development. As a Peer Academic Leader, my hope is to engage with students and my peers by communicating, collaborating and connecting in a healthy, positive and safe environment for all students to foster growth and engage in all aspects (Personal, Professional and Academic). My goal is to work in collaboration with my fellow students to succeed and continue to support our students achievements moving forward. My background and facts about me: This year, 2020, is my 5th year in post-secondary education, and my 2rd post-secondary credential; I am very fluent in two languages (you are welcome to ask me about them).
